A True Theater Experience in a Projector

When I say this projector did not disappoint, I truly mean it. The soundcore Nebula P1i exceeded my expectations and instantly upgraded my home theater setup.

First, the setup was incredibly easy. It only took a couple of minutes to get everything up and running. It even comes with a remote that includes batteries, which I really appreciated. Small detail, but it makes a difference.

One of my favorite features is the self-adjusting autofocus and auto keystone correction. It automatically works to give you a clear, sharp picture without having to manually adjust everything. In my case, my theater room ceiling is a bit asymmetrical, so it had a little trouble perfectly catching the wall to form a completely straight rectangle. However, that’s more about my room shape than the projector itself. In a standard space, it works beautifully.

The portability is another major plus. It has a sturdy built-in handle, so you can easily carry it from room to room. It does have a little weight to it, which actually makes it feel solid and well-built rather than cheap or flimsy. Please note that when I say portable, I’m saying that it’s easy to transfer from room to room. You will still need to plug it up as it is not cordless.

The pullout flippable speakers are such a cool feature. You can angle them toward where you’re sitting, which makes the sound feel immersive and more directed at you. The dual 10W stereo speakers with Dolby Audio deliver clear, rich sound without needing external speakers.

I also love that it’s Google TV equipped. You don’t need a separate streaming device because it already has built-in apps. Plus, you can use Google Cast to stream directly from your phone. The interface is smooth and easy to navigate, and I really liked that you can even create a Kids profile, which is perfect for families.

Overall, this projector delivers excellent picture quality (Full HD 1080P), great sound, smart features, and true portability all in one device. It’s a fantastic option for anyone looking to create a theater experience at home without needing a complicated setup. Highly recommend!

EXCELLENT projector

This projector is incredibly easy to set up. I already had a stand that I was able to install it on right out of the box. It does not include a metal stand, as shown in my photos, but they are great to have if you plan to use these frequently. If you have a Google TV account/app, you'll be able to have everything set up and ready to stream in ten minutes.

You can tell this is a high quality piece of equipment right out of the box. The speakers are very nice and I love that you can rotate them up, towards the front, or point them back. The sound is crisp and clear, you can hear everything easily. The fan is incredibly quiet and I haven't had any issues with it being too loud. Controls are intuitive and the screen auto focuses which is quite nice. I do plan to eventually get a little pull down screen to enjoy this with but it works great on my bedroom wall. Picture quality is crisp and clear, with great detail.

For the price point this is absolutely fantastic and much nicer than many of the other projectors that I've seen on the market. Much nicer than the one I owned before I snagged this. I really like the selection of apps. I was able to load HBO, Netflix, Hulu, Peacock, and Prime. So great integration with the more well known apps and even a lot of niche ones as well. Google TV makes it very easy. I've really been enjoying the user interface and overall quality of this device. It's fantastic.

I have a speaker from this brand and knowing that its part of the Anker brand gave me peace of mind that it would be worth the price point. It is expensive but it's more practical than a TV, highly portable, and I honestly don't miss streaming in front of a TV when I can just do it on this. I also have the ability to set this up anywhere which is a huge plus to me.

If you love to watch movies in cinematic quality, get this lil bad boy. Plus it's the only projector on the market with rotatable speakers. Pretty dope. This little gadget gets me stamp of approval.

Portable but not Powerful

I had high hopes for this projector and while it lived up to some, it failed in others. My hope is to give you deep insight to make an informed decision about this projector if you're considering buying it.

Image:
The image quality from this projector is passable. Even when properly focused, it has some grain to it but is still good. The center of the image is very sharp. However, this projector has the unique issue that the image becomes blurry the farther from the center it is. The middle of the image will be perfectly in focus, but the edges appear smudged even on a perfectly flat projector screen. This is not typical in most projectors. The brightness also leaves a lot to be desired. You can see how dim the projected feed is in the second image attached to this review. That photo was taken in a dim room with the lights off. This projector requires a fairly dim environment to reach its maximum potential. That being said, the color on it is fantastic. You are able to select between different color profiles and on the vivid profile, video looks vibrant and crisp.

Sound Quality:
This is the area where I was most let down. Soundcore is most well known for their speakers which led me to expect good audio quality since once of the main selling points of this projector is its built in, rotatable speakers. These speakers sound tinny and shallow: similar to audio being played from a cell phone or cheap desktop speakers. They do not handle low ranges well. I did several audio tests when I first set up the projector and found lower tones to either be missing or barely audible while the high tones were harsh. You could likely even this out using EQ, but out of the box, the audio is disappointing. It is, however, usable and if you don't have an external audio system or speaker to connect, it is perfectly okay. It does not sound as good as most TVs.

Features:
Features are where this projector really shines. You are able to customize streaming apps and image quality. It has an auto focus which gets you in the range of sharp image quality but usually requires using manual focus to fine tune. The auto keystone adjustment is very handy and is usually spot on. It has wifi and Bluetooth. The Bluetooth is incredibly useful as it allows you to connect audio to a bluetooth speaker with no noticeable latency (this can mitigate the low audio quality issue.) It also has obstacle avoidance, which is stated to automatically adjust the image, so it does not project on top of unintended objects like a mantle underneath a screen. I found this feature to only occasionally work. If you are in an optimal environment projecting onto a proper projector screen, it will fit to that screen, but if you are projecting onto a sheet or white wall, it did not. This is easily fixed with manual keystone and zoom adjustment. I love that the built in OS runs on android and allows you to install playstore apps alongside custom APKs. On the flip side, I do not like that the built in OS requires you sign in with a google account before use. Also, the processing within the OS is very slow and I am hoping an update for optimization is released in the future. On startup, using the menu is sluggish with several seconds between pressing a button on the remote and device reacting. Even after startup, it can be slow. I find myself adjusting the brightness or opening settings often and there is a good 5 second delay between pressing the settings button on the remote and settings actually opening.

Final Thoughts:
While this projector does have problems, I have enjoyed it thoroughly. Compared to other projectors, it is not the best, but it also has quality of life features that those others lack. It has a small form factor and can easily fit in a bag. I find myself using it more than my TV because it is so portable. I can move it to any room, and project it onto a wall while a work (as long as the light in the room is dim). In terms of price, it seems to be on the high end compared to other similar projectors. All in all, this is a usable, mid-grade projector which good quality of life that is user friendly and easy to set up.

Create Your Own Cinema Experience

We have been looking for a projector that does not take up too much space, looks aesthetically pleasing, and is portable so that we can use it at home and take it with us when we go camping. This soundcore Nebula P1i Smart Projector is exactly what we have been looking for and is the perfect projector for us!

The packaging is impressive and definitely protects the projector from getting damaged. Set up was quick, easy, and straightforward. The projector is well built with good quality material and solid performance. It is sleek and the surface is matte so fingerprints won't show. The carrying strap is sturdy, well made, and provides easy transportation. Underneath the projector is a height adjustor that enables you to lower or higher the machine to fit your projector screen, or whatever source you will be showing a movie on. The included remote control is well made. It has buttons for popular streaming services, focus correction, volume control and quick access to the menu.

We found that the projector works best in dark conditions. We set it up 10' from the protector screen (screen not included). It was easy to adjust the projector so that the movie fit into the size of our screen. The image quality is amazing. It is bright, clear, and crisp. The colors are vivid and the autofocus is helpful for getting the image just right. It is almost like watch a 100" TV screen. The projector is extremely quiet and doesn't create any noise that takes away from watching a movie.

Having speakers as part of the unit is great. I was a little worried that the sound wouldn't be very good because of the size of the attached speakers, but I was wrong. The sound is very good. Audio clarity and volume level are good. Through Bluetooth we were able to connect our soundbar to the projector, which is a big plus. It's like having a movie theatre in your own home.

The only thing that we will be adding to this package is an extension cord and a lint free cloth to clean the lens with. Otherwise, from the moment I unboxed it, every single detail about this projector has been top-notch! Whether you're watching a movie inside your home, hosting a backyard movie night, or watching movies while camping under the stars, this projector delivers great sound and visuals. It's a fun, budget-friendly option for anyone that is looking to create their own Cinema experience wherever they are.

An impressive portable projector!

These small projectors are really making some serious improvements! This soundcore Nebula P1i really impressed me in just about every way. The price of this is on the high side but it's a fair value for similar products. This is a bit larger than some of the other portable projectors I've used in the past and weighs a bit over 7lbs without the included power brick. It only uses about 75-80W while playing media.
Speakers are a pretty big weak point in any projector I've used up to this point. This P1i has two 10w speakers that can fold out and rotate. These produce some really good audio for a portable projector. I played a few songs just to test and was very impressed. The unfolding and rotating design of the speakers really helps with improving the sound. The picture quality is great at a native 1080p resolution. The brightness wasn't bad but I think that's still something that can be improved. The smart features work really well. The auto focus / keystone was pretty welcome as it handled focus and keystone without me having to touch anything. There is a button on the remote you can use to retrigger the auto focus and you can manually fine tune it as well. I set it up on a tripod that was a bit uneven and it did a good job with focus and leveling on its own. The smart app selection included the major apps I like since it uses Google TV (Netflix, Youtube, Youtube Music, Crunchyroll, and Twitch to name a few). Some of those cheap projectors feel a bit sketchy with a random older Android fork that doesn't get any security updates. There's none of that here on this soundcore. You can get setup via your Google account relatively quickly and that made WiFi setup automatic too. For inputs, you get 1 HDMI, Aux, and USB-A port.

What I liked about it: Great quality. Google TV. Nice sound quality. Auto focus works well.

What I didn't like: Price is a little high.

Overall, I recommend this portable projector!
